About the Competition

XavAequitas’24, the First National Moot Court Competition organized by the Moot Court Society of Xavier Law School, is a prestigious event that embodies the institution’s dedication to cultivating legal acumen and advocacy skills among aspiring lawyers. This competition is a monumental step in Xavier Law School’s journey, aimed at establishing a tradition of excellence in legal discourse and practice. XavAequitas’24 is designed to challenge participants with complex legal problems that require not only a deep understanding of the law but also the ability to think critically and argue persuasively. The competition will simulate real-world courtroom dynamics, providing students with the opportunity to engage in rigorous legal debates before panels of distinguished judges and legal professionals.

• 14th September : Team Registration Opens
• 14th October : Team Registration Closes
• 18th October : Memo Submission Closes
• 23rd October : Online Draw of Lots
• 23rd October : Online Memorial Exchange
• 24th October : Opening Ceremony
• 24th October :  Preliminary Round – I & II
• 25th October : Quarter Final Round
• 25th October : Semi Final Round
• 26th October : Final Round
• 26th October : Valedictory Session + Prize Distribution

Date of the Competition:
The competition shall be held on the 24th, 25th and 26th of October 2024.

Venue of the Competition:
The competition shall be held within the premises of St Xavier’s University, Kolkata based within the state of West Bengal, India.

Official Language of the Competition:
The language of the competition shall be English. All oral and written submissions are required to be made in English

Eligibility for Participation and Team Composition:

• The competition is open to all students who are pursuing LLB three/five- year courses during he current academic year.
• Each team should consist of three members.
• There shall be two speakers, and one researcher designated for each team.
• All Team related issues and queries should be answered at the discretion of the organisers.
• Teams should not disclose the identity of their institution; such disclosure shall invite penalties including disqualilication. The decision for the same shall be at the discretion of the organisers.
• No additional team member other than the above three shall be entertained.

The registration fees for participations is Rs. 2500 per team
