About the University
The NorthCap University (formerly ITM University) was founded in 1996, to promote excellence in Technical and Management education by Educate India Society, registered under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860. The University imparts education in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering, management, sciences and law.
It is recognized by various government and regulatory bodies for teaching and awarding degrees. The University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
About the Conference
The Centre for Studies in Environmental Law (CSEL) at School of Law, the NorthCap University (NCU), Gurugram, invites abstracts for the National Conference on “Conceptualising Legal Framework and Policies for Coastal Zones in India: Issues and Challenges” on 28th February and 1st March 2025 at the NorthCap University, Gurugram. The conference will be conducted both physically as well as in an online mode.
It is important to have deliberations on the said theme from various stakeholders, like, the academia, lawyers, judges, and enforcement agencies, etc. to successfully create effective outcomes for preservation and sustainable development of the coastal areas of India. India’s coastal zones are important to be conserved and protected as they are home to a variety of ecosystems and support the livelihoods of coastal communities.
It is an established fact that coastal zones can help mitigate the effects of climate change and cyclones. For example, mangroves and sand dunes act as a first line of defence against cyclone and storm surges. Keeping in view, the geographical importance of coastal zones of the world and India in particular, the proposed national conference would be inviting prominent resource persons in the field of environmental law and would also invite academic paper presentations from practitioners, faculty members, students and research scholars from both public and private Universities to participate and share their opinions and views on the theme of the Conference.

How to Submit?
- Abstracts for the aforesaid conference should reach the following email: “cselconference@ncuindia.edu”, by 13th February 2025, 11:59 pm.
- Every author whose abstract gets selected should register for the conference after paying the fees through the link provided to them (via email) by 14th February 2025.
- An author who has not registered for the same, shall not be allowed to make a presentation under any circumstance.
Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts for the aforesaid conference should reach the following email: “cselconference@ncuindia.edu”, by 13th February 2025, 11:59 pm.
- The submissions will be adjudged and selected purely on the basis of merit and originality by a team of experts.
- Candidates will be informed by 14th February, 2025, if their submissions have been selected for presentation.
- The last date for registration of Conference and Payment is 14th February, 2025.
- The selected papers, completed in every manner as informed below, should be sent to the aforesaid email by the 25th of February 2025.
- Each submission should include the following:
- It should be between 5,000 and 6,000 words, excluding footnotes.
- The font used should be Times New Roman with sizes of 12 and 10 in the
- main content and footnotes respectively, and line spacing of 1.5.
- The citation provided should either be in that followed by the Indian Law
- Institute (ILI) as available at: https://www.ili.ac.in/cstyle.pdf or in the OSCOLA style.
- There should not be more than 10% similarity in the main content as well as less than 5% usage of Artificial Intelligence.
- The submission should be original and not simultaneously considered by any other seminar, conference, journal, chapter in a book, etc.

Publication
Selected papers, after having undergone a thorough peer review, will be published by a publisher of repute from the legal world. It may be noted that there could be slight variations in the published version of these papers in order to meet the criteria of the publisher concerned.
